ND ED. 1 and D, GLS, Bye. my friends S At the age of thirteen, Tim Root, influenced by the Bea- tles, taught himself to play the guitar Since then, Tim has been a member of numerous bands and has played at ' many places Although he usually plays at coffee houses, Tim had an opportunity to play with the well-known - ' roup, Silverado, at the Russian Lady He is currently interested in writing songs, but hopes that he and his brother will be playing again soon Tim says he isn ' t stuck on one kind of music — he likes them all. At Northwest, Tim plays centerfield on our baseball team. When he isn ' t busy singing or playing baseball, Tim Mikes to ski. He also has a part time job as a parking lot attendant. Vida Zdanys ' Lithuanian heritage has influenced her involvement in various Lithuanian organizations. Since the age of three, Vida has danced with a Lithuanian folk dancing group called the Berzelis. This group dances at activities mainly in and around the Hartford area. The Mayor ' s All American Festival, the Civics and Arts Festi- val, church organizations, and various convalescent homes are just a few places where her group dances. The biggest event they attend is a Lithuanian folk dance festival which is held every five years in Chicago. Thou- sands of Lithuanians flock to Chicago and attend this fes- tival. Vida also attended the Lithuanian Youth Congress of the World. She recently toured Europe with this group. The Youth Congress includes young Lithuanians from all over the world. The main purpose of this organization is to keep Lithuanian youth aware of the problems of Lithuania both in the past and present, and to motivate them to work together for Lithuanian freedom. The Euro- pean trip also enabled these youth to meet other Lithua- nians in order to share all they have in common. It turned out to be a pleasurable as well as an educational experi- ence.
