Foreign Exchange Students at Northwest Northwest Cabarrus was honored to have three foreign exchange students this year. Two students were from Spain and one was from Gemiany. Our foreign exchange students were Francisco Javier Ferreira Villanalla, Ana Aldecoa, and Christian-ole Namhen. Francisco lived with Mr. and Mrs. Wes Edison and was with us all year. Ana stayed with Tiffany Moody, and Chris stayed with Eddie Mills. They were here for the second semester. Chris was a junior and took advanced algebra and trigonometry, physics, French, and English. Chris lives in Germany and has two brothers. He said that in Germany, school is very different from the United States. They go to school for 13 years. After that you must enlist in the army or do social work. Chris will retum to Germany in June. Francisco was a senior and took chemistry, calculus, U. S. History, Biology, and English. He lives in Spain and has one brother eleven years old. At Northwest Francisco played soccer and was the manager of the varsity boys basketball team. He will retum to Spain in June and plans to major in medicine. Ana, who was also a senior, took Bible, Typ ing, Spanish, History, and English. Ana lives in Spain and has one sister who is 21. Ana said she did not like American foods like hamburgers She will retum to Spain in June. Ana said, Ml want to go to college in the United States. I Intramurals were introduced at the begin- ing of the year by Coach Harwood. Mr. larwood was really excited and hopeful rat the idea would go over well. It seems rat he was right. Intramurals gave the udents a chance to get involvedin school tivities besides just the books. The main orts that were played included: basket- all, ping-pong, and volleyball. The new inch system of two longer lunches instead I three shorter lunches, allowed time for ne intramurals to take place.
