VAR ITY BOYQ Starting off with high hopes, the Trojans played a tough preseason schedule followed by the Catawba Tournament. The varsity boys entered the conference with a record of 5-4 overall. The one-two punch of lVlark Forester and .Jeff Vaughn led the Trojans into conference play, each averaging over twenty points per game. The SRC game-winning streak was broken during the Trojans' first conference game with East Rowan, the last loss was to the same team in 'l 985. The Trojans lost S5-61. Following the loss, the Trojans rebounded by winning a non- conference game over West Stanly with a score of 88-75. Northwest defeated Forest Hills and Sun Valley. improving their conference record to C3-'l. The Trojans front line took con- trol early in a big SRC win over Con- cord 76-62. Showing true Trojan Form, Nlichael Nlark goes in for a lay-up. Senior Doug lVlcDonald gets by the defense and heads toward a Trojan score. 'I BD X Sports The Trojans suffered a 7C-B7 overtime setback to West Rowan, but downed Central 72-E32 to im- prove their SF'C standing to 4-E in the conference. A heartbreaking loss came to the Trojans against East Rowan. Needing this win to stay in the race for number one, the Trojans lost 7'l-78. Northwest rolled by Forest l-lills with a E1 -72 SRC victory, then defeated Sun Valley 76-58. The Trojans won a thriller against Con- cord 73-72g this hard-fought game made the Trojans a frontrunner to claim second place in the SRC with a record of 7-3. Losing to West Rowan for the second time EE-533, the Trojans' record dropped to 7-4 and 'l 3-9 overall. Northwest ended the season with a loss to Central slipping to an overall record of 'l 3-'I D. Kelley Rogers eludes the defense by making great pass.
