Congratulations to Miss Katherine Joyce Watkins for being selected as Miss North- west 1988. Kathe will have the honor of representing Northwest in the community parades as well as the Carolina Carrousel Parade. The Student Council raises the money to pay for the entrance of Miss Northwest into the Carrousel Parade. Kathe Watkins, Miss Northwest 1988, is involved in many activities which include: Student Council, Senior Class Treasurer, captain of the varsity cheerleading squad, Spanish Club, HOSA, FTA, SADD, and History Club. Kathe's hobbies include dancing, skiing, swimming, cheering, and talking with friends. Kathe's future plans are to obtain a Mas- ter's Degree in Secondary Education and become a teacher. Eventually she hopes to acquire a Doctorate in Educational Admin- istration and become a superintendent of a school system. Kimberly Jordan, Senior attendant is captain of the varsity cheerleading squad, secretary of French Club, and is a member of SADD and FT A. Kimberly enjoys danc- ing, swimming, and spending time with friends. Her future plans are to attend UNCC majoring in Business Administra- tion. Trina McDaniel, Junior Attendant, enjoys playing softball, swimming, shopping, and spending time with friends. Trina hopes to attend UNCC for two years then transfer to Campbell University to study law. Leslie Morgan, Sophomore Attendant, is a member of Christian's United Club and a JV cheerleader. Elisabeth Harwood, Freshman Attend- ant, enjoys singing, dancing, swimming, cheering, and talking with friends. Miss Merry hristmas 1.988 Christmas Dreams Can Come True was the theme for the 198 7-88 Miss Merry Christmas Pageant. The Northwest Chapter of the National Beta Club spon- sored the pageant which was held on N o- vember 10. The eight contestants who competed for the title of Miss Merry Christmas were judged in the following categories: tal- ent, evening gown, and interview. The young lady who had her Christmas dream come true was Miss Tymphany Ann Edwards. Tymphanyls talent was a contemporary dance on toe to Flash Dance . There was special entertainment be- tween competitions provided by Annette Turner, Miss Merry Christmas 1.987g Aimee Kennedy, reigning Miss Cabarrus Countyg Brandon and Beth Troutman, and dance troops from Goodman's School ofDance. Tymphany competed on December 1 with other area high school Christmas queens for the title of Kannapolis' Miss Merry Christmas. She was awarded this title after the parade. This makes the third consecutive year our queen has re- ceived the title of Kannapolis' Miss Merry Christmas!
