U VARSITY h53Ve QlV9n the WOPC15 uspipitn and Dione, Kimberly, Jodie, and Katha LPVVAJ are all smiles after Varsity won the Award of Excellenc This year's Varsity Cheerleaders Determination new meaning. lVlany things about this year will be re- membered. The never-ending summer practices preparing for the Universal Cheerleading Association Camp held at Wake Forest and the National Cheerleading Association Camp at Campbell University will not be easily forgotten. Practice paid off and the girls came away with num- erous first place ribbons, a Superior trophy, two Spirit sticks, and the overall Award of Excellence. This qual- ified them for the National Cheerlead- ing Association Championship held in Dallas, Texas. Nicole Sherrill was chosen to compete in the All American Cheerleader Award. The girls worked hard all year plan- ning pep rallies, bon fires, Homecom- ing halftime show and Homecoming Dance, sharing the responsibility of NCA NA Spirit Week, and cheering at varsity football and basketball games. School spirit was abundant and so was the determination of this Varsity Cheer- leading Squad. l l l The Varsity Cheerleaders at the NCA National Championship in Dallas, Texas. n J.V. CHEE 1 Sweat, hot days and hard work really paid off for the Junior Varsity I beth Harwood, and .Jennifer Allison. Cheerleaders this year when they attended camp at Campbell l.lni- -i ff versity. The cheerleaders spent a week practicing and competing for differ- ent titles. The squad was nominated for The Award of Excellence. They re- ceived superior ribbons every night and won the spirit stick one night. Sophomore Leslie lvlorgan was nomi- nated for All American Cheerleader. Since camp the cheerleaders have been very busy. They competed at Carowinds in a cheer-off and ranked in the top ten out of about sixty squads.
