The Northwest golf team did very well this year with only three golfers returning. Nlatt Trexler and Steve Thigpen, seniors, end junior lVlike Duncan returned bringing two years of experience. The golf season started in February with practice and lasted until the end of lVlay. Practices were after school at the Cabarrus Country Club. Coach Bob Angley taught the golfers well. Coach Angley. with twelve years of experience, showed the golfers that they could do well. The average team score was around SED, and four golfers were within 'l S strokes of each other in yearly totals. They were lVlike Duncan, lVlatt Trex- '5 .-' - . X , ,M ,, 7'- . 'I ESS X Sports if yu A. ler, Steve Thigpen, and Nick Nelson. lvlike Duncan was dynamic this year having the best scores of the season and playing number one all year. The golfers also did very well in the Conference Tournament. The team won their match with most of the players shooting in the SD's. The team, although they tried hard, just could not beat Sun Valley. Northwest finished second in the Conference. Northwest also had an All- Conference player, Nick Nelson. l-le was chosen All-Conference by being one of the golfers whose scores were the best in the Conference Tourna- ment.
