O TROJ A Slice of Success Competition among the South Piedmont boys' tennis teams was fierce. With returning players Dolph Flamseur, Andy Case, Brad Shelton, Chris Emerson, Jason I-lerman, and Todd Elrovvn, the team looked for- ward to a successful season and in- deed it was. Forehands, backhands, and serves are major skills in tennis. The ooys' tennis team knew this and worked to improve these competencies. Finally all their practice paid off with an excel- lent season. The 'I S87 team was S-'I in the Con- ference, losing only once to Concord. After beating Northwest once, Con- cord seemed to be the team to beat. In the overall season we finished 'I 3-E. ln the State Finals, Northwest placed third out of E1 teams. Dolph Pamseur advanced to the Flegionals. l was pleased with the tennis team's achievement in the State Finals, said Coach Sill Case. Dolph Flamseur was named Player of the Year as well as All-Conference, Andy Case was also named All- Conference. Coach Case was named Coach of the Year.
