The school administration is more than just the group of officials who make sure everyone follows the rules. Someone has to coordinate clubs, re- source materials, textbooks, substitute teachers, and registration. Someone has to take charge of bus transportation, fur- niture, maintenance, parking, and other seemingly unimportant jobs that are ac- tually quite significant. Mrs. Poole, Mrs. Spears, and Mr. Cartrett are the people who make these 'things happen. I really enjoy my work, said Mr. Cartrett. Working with students and teachers is never boring because some thing new is always coming up. Mr. Cartrett is currently working on a Certifi cate of Advanced Studies in School Ad ministration, a six-year degree. His goal is to continue to learn and grow in order to become a truly competent school ad- ministrator and be able to make positive contributions to our school. Assistant Principal Mr. Cartrett shares many things with Northwest, but one thing he doesn't share with many is his ability to talk like Donald Duck. Alissa Hassig f iii. Counseling is more than the know edge of how to make the erfect schedule and getting students of to college. As Mr. ose puts it, You must care and have the desire to see others reach their oten- tial. You must care enough to be a fiiend, yet be firm enougih to criticize. . Mr. Rose atten ed Indiana University and received a B.S. de ree in Physical Education, then movedgon to Clemson University for a master's degree in Guid- ance and Counseling. He is not finished yet. He will begin to work towards a doctoral de ree at U.N.C.C. also. Being athgletic as well as academically successful, Mr. Rose played colle e foot- ball for three years and followingiis sec- ond knee sur ery, he became a student assistant coaci. After college he contin- ued assistant coaching at several univer- sities in the states. As a result of Mr. Rose's athletic ac- tiveness, he continued to travel as he had when he was younger due to his father's career. Thanks to Dad he has had the opportunity to sample life in six different states. Most of us know Mr. Rose as a rather serious guy, but he is also a big practical joker w o loves to make people laugh. Alissa Hassig if 'if av-1 ,tk , Mr. Rose and senior julie Murr discuss college applications. Q In Ms. Presson takes time from routine tasks to chat with a student. Guidance X 125
