YEARBOCDKS BN As the summer was coming to an end, the long awaited trip to yearbook camp was drawing nearer. On August 3, Erin Brown, Linda Drew, Kim Emerson, Michael johnson, leanna McClannon, and ourselves, Cheryl Brinkerhoff and Lisa Coley, met Mrs. Karen Fisher at Northwest High School to begin our journey to the university at Wilmington. When we arrived we were greeted and each assigned a room with a friend. We were given a tee-shirt bearing the school name and the publishing company. We returned to our rooms and dis- cussed the classes in which we were going to participate. After the assembly, we retired to our rooms for what we thought would be an early night's sleep. We found that ice fights in the hall and hid- ing from cameras in our nightgowns was much more exciting than sleeping. Little did we know that 6:00 a.m. was going to come early to make a mad dash to the shower. After lunch we met with a talented artist from California. He suggested several ideas for the DYNAMIS cover and theme for 1987-1988. The following day the school catered a luau on the beach which was followed up that night by a talent show. Following our last class of our fun-filled trip, we loaded the van, traveled across the campus to the auditorium, and watched a slide presentation that featured fellow students at yearbook camp from across the east. Following the presentation, we assembled into the van for our lengthy journey home with ideas in our heads for the cover and theme for the 1987-1988 DYNAMIS. EXCELLENCE IS NOT AN ACT BUT A HABlT - Aristotle To be a part of the academics depart- ment in a high school means more than planning lessons, giving assignments, grading tests, typing and recommend- ing students to colleges, and ruling with an iron hand as the image reflects. In- stead, it is rewarding to know that one has helped a young generation prepare for the real world. It takes all of us to get the work of the school accomplished. It is only our indi- vidual functions in fulfilling the mission of the schools which differ. Our mission is to help children achieve to the best of their abilities on a wide variety of fronts. We may have different functions, but we are all on the same team, states our principal, Mrs. Glenda Poole. Ieanna McClannon Mrs. Poole, principal, Mr. Cartrett and Mrs. ipears, assistant pnncipals, work hard to keep orthwest under control. 122 ATI 'in
