Trojan griders stop Wonders' effort to score C , 'zo ana Oaaf Exif action in wo sau The 69-70 Trojan football team had a new look for success this year with a fine new football coach. Mr. Clifford Rimer started early in the fall to begin getting his spirited Trojans in tip-top shape. From the very first practice, the Trojans worked hard for the rugged Rocky River Conference schedule. On the 29th of August, the anxious Trojans left for K-town to meet the A. L. Brown Little Wonders for the beginning of the '69-T70 football season. The fighti ag Trojans labored hard for the victory, but were a little over-powered by the scrappy Little Wonders. For the next two weeks the Trojans found the road for success hard as they met the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets and the Monroe Rebels. They seemed to have the effort and desire to win, but just could not find the success of winning. Suddenly the Trojans came to life and finally happy days were here. Northwest overpowered the Tigers of Mount Pleasant 12-7. The Trojans came in with a surprising finish to end the ballgame in a Northwest victory. This victory excited the happy Trojans and gave them a feeling of confidence that led them to victory the next week with Northwest defeating Piedmont 22-6. This marked the second win in a row for the Trojans. On October 3rd, the Trojans faced their rugged county-cousin rival, Central Cabarrus. Central, however, proved to be too strong for the Trojans as they were over-powered 32-6. Northwest was spell-bound over the loss, but came back fighting in a clash with West Stanly which ended in a I4-l4 deadlock. The Trojans dropped the next two games to powerful Concord and Parkwood to end the '69-'70 season, but Northwest was not discouraged as they looked to another football season with hope for better success. The fighting Trojans of Northwest ended the football year with a season record of 3-6-l. The 1970 Dynamis Staff would like to congratulate the Trojans for their efforts during the football season.
