Gufuzs .sac 752,11 Under the combined efforts of Mrs. Rebekah Ewart and Mrs. Lucille Daniel, Future Teachers of America are intro- duced to the qualities, responsibilities and the aptitudes essen- tial to a successful teaching career. Their purpose is to ae- quaint students with the program of education. Included in the year's activities was the responsibility of helping plan National Education Week, This involved intro- ductions of professional people to various interested groups. Another event of the year was the annual tea honoring teachers. The tea was highlighted by the presentation of a birthday cake to Mr. Garmon. This year, the F.T.A. members have distinguished their club from all others past by the founding of a new scholarship program. For the past three years, Le Cercle Francais of Northwest Cabarrus High School has ranked among the schoolls most active clubs. lts aims are to establish a better understanding of the French people, their customs, and ideas. Each student enrolled in the club is required to maintain at least an average of 80 or above in French. Throughout the year, the French Club sponsors various projects such as the Mumified Mama-Petrified Papa contest, and the Mardi Gras, which is one ofthe highlights ofthe year at Northwest. This year the club purchased French flags and a French Bible for the use ofthe French department. Through the leadership of Mrs. Brenda Furr and Mrs. Cynthia Petrea, the French Club members have become better acquainted with France.
