M-N,.,,.... .ska The National Beta Club is a non-secret, leadership- achievement-service organization for high school students. Its purpose is the promotion of honesty, service and leadership. To be eligible, a student must have and maintain a 92 average. He must be of good character and a well-rounded student. On April 10-ll, the Beta Club went to Raleigh, North Carolina to attend the State Beta Club Convention. This trip was financed by such fund-raising projects as doughnut sales, school spirit contests, and bake sales. Highlighting the year's activities was the induction of new members. Twenty-two inductees were tapped on February 25. Each year a cup is presented to the outstanding Sopho- more. This selection is based on the Sophomore who has exemplified the Beta Club's standards. This year's trophy was awarded to Andy Foster. Club officers include: President, Lynn Hippg Vice-President, Harriet ips, Treasurer, Rita Hinsong Secretary, Sherry Ford, Reporter, Cindy Beta Club members are: Miss Terry Yelton, ad- visor, First Row: Bren- da Jones. Hee-In Comedy was one of the highlights of the year. Here Dawn Burr, Phil Smith, Jeff McCombs, and Harold Ballard display their talent. I W fox V Fi E A H 1 - --v-f . -Q . f , X I Beginning the years work, the drama classes expressed their originality through the presentation of pantomiines. Various one-act performances helped add a lighter note to many ofthe year's activities. Hard work was required of all actors to perfect their presentations. Special two-act plays were presented to the public to help raise funds. Students desplayed their abilities in the comedy Up the Down Staircase and the drama Flowers for Alger- non . A three-act play was presented as the year came ro a close. This presentation elimaxed endless hours of rehearsing' Induction into the National Thespian Society honored those students who had obtained the required number of Thespian points. ry Parker is tired of going Up The Down Staircase .
