One of the most important factors of our presentation is the organizations. The organizations of our school reflect the interests of the students. Mechanical skills and handiwork are exercised through the activities of the Masonry and Electronics Clubs, intellectual interests are honored by organizations such as Beta, French, Math, and Science Clubs, creative ability is recognized and encouraged through the Art Club, band, and chorus. Each organization reveals special characteristics which set it apart from all others. And here, too, are characters who find a special role to play. These are the officers, who, together with the most vital part of the organization, the club members, become involved in one of the most vivid plays of the stage of Northwest, Through these clubs, beautification of the school grounds, promotion of school spirit, instrumental precision, and development of skills are accomplished. A feeling of self-pride, purpose, and fellowship is the reward. I. 'H

Under the leadership of Mrs. Joy Hipp and Dale Benson, there was an addition to this year's legislative body. The Advisory Council was established. The Council consisted of eight black students and eight white students. The purpose in this organization was to better the race relationships in the school, and to make all students aware of the activities within the school. The two councils combined efforts to sponsor the annual food drive for needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas. ln addition, their main project was Get Involved Weekf, The last week in January was set aside for this with different activities each day for the students. They also sponsored Student Orientation Day for rising Freshmen. With the combined efforts of the Student Council and Advisory Council this has proven to be one of Northwestis greatest years.
