is:. Women ' s Soccer Heads For Success The 1986 women ' s soccer team inished the season quite success uJ]y, despite the Jack of returning experienced players. The capability o tri-captains Tricia Ducker, )ulie Anger, and Michelle Cross provided leader- ship and support for the entire squad. However, the strength of the Mustangs was in the defense. Including award winning ill Gallagher and Amy Spaman, the team recorded 13 shut-outs in 20 games. Leading the Mustangs in scoring, Jenni Schuerman and odi Smalec each received honorable mentions in the all-division category. The Mustangs managed to reach the regional finals, but were defeated in a close match with Livonia Churchill, despite their gallant effort. Next season should give them a chance to avenge their disappointing loss with all 22 members returning to the team. ' v. Track Team Gains Experience Sujfering from a lack of seasoned players, the 1986 track team struggled through another season. However, in 1987, many veterans runners returned, boasting track ' s most experienced team since 1983. Captains Kevin Haas, John Gird, and Dana Letarfe did very weJJ in long distance, middle distance and sprinting, respectively. Other bright spots included senior sprinters Rich Gird and Matt Hubert, pole vaulter Ray Smit, junior distance run- ner and Ail-American John Frisbee, high jumpers Rob Frazer and John Baumann, and distance runners Pat Naszradi and Greg Newton.
