The members showed their support by manning the con- cession stand during the football and basketball games, organizing a successful Homecoming, and sponsoring a flower sale. This year, the Pep Club made significant contributions to the community and school. With the help of IVfrs. Siemasz and Mrs. Wisely, this exuberant organization has grown in size and spirit, making the future of NHS activities even more promising. PEP CLUB 73

TT Debate Team Creates a League All Its Own The NHS debate team returned this year for its second season under the coaching of Enghsh teacher Bud Bourgeois. Absent from the iong list of organiza- tions existing at NorthvilJe High for several years, the debaters are busily securing a pla ce in the state-wide leagues. The Wavice League, to which NorthviJJe belongs, is specially designed for inexperienced schools just starting a team. This year ' s country-wide topic of debate for competition was the United States agriculture policy. Though they did not capture any awards this year, Northville gained valuabJje training which will be useful in establishing a stronger, more ex- perienced team. The upcoming years hold many pro- mises for future students with an interest in debate. This year ' s team included Jason Hill, Eric Stempien, Todd VanHoosear, im Thompson, Libby Cook, Mike Method, Matt Ho, Sue Schweim, Kara Connell, Brad Guerro, Margaret O ' Doherty, Jenny Beyersdor , Stephanie Mellor, Kris Czapski, ]eff Buell and Jeff Gursky. Northville Equestrians Harness Their Abilities The Northville High School equestrian team met with tough competition this past season, struggling to win their first meet, tying their sec- ond, but disappointingly losing their third. A suc- cessful 1987 season is eagerly anticipated, however, with the return of seniors Sean Sullivan and Kristen Cutchins. These and other veteran team members look forward to teaching new recruits the techniques and skills necessary to lead the NHS equestrians to victory. With the hard work and dedication that has become customary of Northville ' s students, next year ' s team is ex- pected to surpass all previous efforts. Many thanks to coach Kelly Sullivan, this year ' s graduating seniors Erin Sullivan and Wendi Trexler, both of whom contributed selflessly to the team, and good luck to next year ' s returning members. 74 EQUESTRIAN
