Students Profit From Business Courses Computer classes are becoming more and more popuiar as the demand for com- puter literacy increases. NorthviJJe High has risen to meet this demand by offering a wide selection of courses in program- ming and applications. Another extensive unit avaiJabJe in the business department is the marketing program. Students learn the fundamentals of making a profit and can go on to work in the school store. Librarians AddiMons This was a year o expansion or the NHS instructional materials center. The new computer system enabled uJJ-time librarians Mrs. Hood, Mrs. Ibach, and Mrs. Mowai to increase the ejficiency o their demanding jobs. Keeping track o check-outs, overdue books, and helping teachers and stud ents look up informa- tion is extremely time consuming, but with the help of hourly student aides, these capable women managed .o main- tain the most widely used resource center in the area. Added during the renovation, ihe computer lab and new classroom have significantly expanded the endless possibilities of such a learning facility. Each year NHS students win scholarships and gain prestige through their participation in state-wide writing contests. Literature classes, ranging from Modern Thought and Literature to Novels to Modern American Literature are wide- ly popular and provide students with a firm foundation in the literary world. In addition to the advanced writing and novel analysis courses, Northville High ' s English department ojferings include reading labs and poetry instruction, designed to ill every student ' s needs. fj ft ft!
