SrflP 1 Counselors Provide Advice For Students The NHS counselors, Frank Satarino, Jack Wickens, Alfa OJson, and Gladys Cohen, make up a necessary and indispensable unit of the high school. Advising graduating seniors in regard to college scholarships and applications, introducing freshmen to a stressful new environment, and helping sophomores and juniors cope vwth the demands of their schoolwork and adolescence form the basic components of a counselor ' s job. Much of the stability and confidence of the student, and hence the school as a whole, is indeed due to the efforts of these four men and women. With such compassionate individuals behind them, of- fering advice and a sympathetic ear, North- ville students cannot help but be overwhelm- ingly optimistic about the future. r wm Consultants Offer Special Support The special education department of- fered a wide selection of services and pro- grams for students with special needs. Under the supervision of six teacher con- sultants, students prepared for their academic classes and strengthened basic study skills. With the recent departmen- talization, each academic area within the high school wa s the responsibility of a single teacher consultant. Special educa- tion students were also assisted by the school social worker, Mrs. Sue Borcherts, and school psychologist, JVlr. Jan Wolyniak.
