Ending their regular season with 10 wins and 9 losses, the Mustangs, as host of the district tournament, defeated Stevenson in the first round and then eliminated North Farm- ington. The tournament concluded with a face-off against neighboring rival Novi. The IVlustangs never shpped from the lead, thanks to their strong rebounding and 16 point con- tribution from Karen Baird. The Mustangs carried away a 49 — 46 victory and the first N HS women ' s basketball district title. In addition to the outstanding team work, the Mustangs ' superior individual talent boosted their per- formance. Tricia Ducker was named to the all-area and all-division teams. Sophomore Debbie Stevens received honorable mention for the all-area team and senior Sue Schrader was selected for the all- area second team. At the end of the season, the team elected Tricia Ducker most valuable player, fulie Anger best defensive player, and Jeannine LaPrad most irr.proved player. WOMEN ' S BASKETBALL 97
