“CLASS PROPHECY Ten years have now passed and the class of 53 has changed from a group of happy go lucky gradu ates nnto a group of thnnkers not drnfters a class made sernous by the constant overcomnng of obstacles whnch have been nn the way of progress Most of thns sernous group gathered a few days ago to attend the mann feature of our reunnon a banquet held at the Stork Club nn New York Cnty As we seated ourselves at the long beautnfully decora ted table we were snlenced by a young nnce looknng man whom we recognnzed as Donald Gardner W found hnm a man up nn socnety expernenced nn law He announced that he would call on the members of the class to tell of thenr success He chose jnmmy Aston who had been our treasurer durnng that hard money ransnng year Thns was lust what jnm was ex pectnng for he stood up nmmednately and started talk mg He was always able to say much but tonnght he sand more He told us that he was helpnng Chnna speed up her educatnonal and economnc programs whnch were gnvnng us so many headaches When he iinnshed Pat Grega was called upon She gave a short speech nn favor of the movement agannst marrnage she and Pat Gnblnn had started among the women of the Unnted States After they had finnshed Marjorne Bergman jumped up and sand she knew marrnage had nts advantages for she had marrned her employer nn order to get a vacatnon and come to the reunnon After lnstennng to Maryorne we saw Larry Serfis who was a promnnent lawyer nn Chncago Larry over whelmnngly approved of marrnage for wnthout marrnages there could be no dnvorces and dnvorces were hns specnalty Marnlyn Manzer changed the conversatnon to ward polntncs when we learned that she was a well known Congresswoman at the head of the Chncken Party She had met Francns Canfield there and he was arrangnng for hns polntncal campangn He had been looknng for a posntnon wnth the least work and had finally found nt secretary of the secretary t one of the Senator s advnsors Larry Cramer promnsed him the support of the Northwest He was especnally nmportant nn that sectnon because after mnnnng a few years he had now become a mnllnonanre just as Larry hnnshed Maurene Shaw ran nnto the room and exclanmed that the shernff Nancy Storer had arrested Earl Colson for speednng on hns way to the reunnon Dnck Rockafellow who had been nn Alaska for a number of years could not bear to see a manden nn dnstress so he rushed to the nanl wnth Larry Cramer s gold nuggets to banl Earl out After the excntement Mary Gruet grasped the golden opportunnty and told of the Old Mand s Home she had founded Evelyn Robbnns had begged to run the nnstntutnon whnle Mary attended the reunnon Thenr dnetncnan Ganl Crannell was very expensnve and Mary pleaded for donatnons to pay her wages Lewns Decker came dressed wnth long tanls and a hngh hat We thought that he would feel out of place but Carol Wnlson told us that he had been leadnng thns knnd of lnfe ever snnce he nnhernted a very nnce sum of money Carol seemed to understand men and no wonder she had a son of her own She wasnt the only one who had a famnly Adella Morrnson ransed her head and proudly sand that she had two very nnce daughters at home Beverly Fountann was dressed for the occasnon also and we no longer wondered where she got her clothes for someone mentnoned that she had posed for one of the leadnng fashnon magaznnes Her hanr looked especnally nnce wnth the new puff poo hanr set Ileane Knowles was responsnble for thns creatnon just as we notnced that a few of our classmates were mnssnng Shenla Berry came nn and showed us the NEWS TIME where she worked as a socnety of Loretta Warner saynng that she had dnscovered the fourth dnmensnon Glorna Brooks was her prnvate secretary and Ivory Knapp her chauffeur Loretta was certainly lnvnng nn style Much to our surprnse Eugene Davenport was also nn the news Eugene and ack Rhodes had become famous nndustrnal owners We were so glad to hear that they had made a success of thenr lnves Davnd Morrnson was nnterested nn the subject of educatnon for he was wnth a lnttle help wrntnng a novel about hns school lnfe I nmagnne nt wnll turn out to be a story lnke Huckleberry Fnnn Wnlma May was hns prnvate secretary and she had qunte a bnt of trouble keepnng hns papers nn order We couldnt forget our wonderful advnsor Mr Felber He was also nncluded nn thns group and wnth hnm was hns very pretty wnfe Mr Felber had been teachnng at Harvard Unnversnty and he was thn of taknng a vacatnon and gonng to France The banquet fnnally ended and we had a short busnness meetnng at whnch plans were made for another reunnon We parted glad that we the class of 53 had done a lnttle for manknnd Y , , .
