Along with cheering at class competitions these girls tried to encourage both students and adults to sup- port Northview and the Viking teams. During the year, besides cheering at football and bas- ketball games, this unit performed routines to the fight song and alma mater, delivered cakes, cupcakes, and candy to the varsity team mem- bers, and painted posters. Before leaving for cheerleading camp at Pep- perdine University last summer, the flag twirl- ers practiced long and hard on a routine to be performed there. This routine won them a rib- bon in the outstanding category. At camp the girls realized that each girl added her own tal- ents and abilities to the group and this could be seen in their cheers and routines.
