DIAMONDMEN RACE FOR TITLE Beginning the season with a positive out- look, the varsity baseball team showed strong determination, attempting to capture the Montview crown. Returning lettermen this year are Mark Clear, one of the best pitchers in league and junior Bob Costello, who was strong at the plate. lim Wilfong, team leader and ex- cellent outfields, and john Irvin, outfielder and utility infielder, are also returning let- termen. Pitching were juniors joe Bradley and Dan Wirth with Val Primante and Charlie Custer supporting them behind the plate. The in- field saw Larry Wilson at first base, Chris Cashen and Rick Haines at second, and Dale Adair at short stop. Dave Stoenner did an able job backing up the infield, while jeff Bodet showed hustle in the outfield. Being an explosive and exciting team, coached by Mel Bantau, Varsity Baseball en- joyed a prosperous season. j
