lhistor cl b Keeping the history of our city and state alive isn't an easy job, but we proved it could be done. We gave students a chance to go back to the old days by go- ing on prospecting expeditions. A trip to Calico, a California ghost town, was also part of the fun we had this year. We helped people remember the heritage of Covina by inviting Don Pfleuger, author of books on Covina history, to speak to the students of Northview. We also planned to have a marker placed on the corner of Azusa and Cypress in memory of the original owner of the land. What We've really done this year was to remind ourselves and others of the history that has been forgotten. 2 spanish cl b Our club, the most international on campus, was the place for all you travel- orientated people to be this year. We went as close to Spain as we could by vis- iting Padua Hills and Olvera Street. At Padua Hills, Mexican actors presented plays with songs and dances of early Cali- fornia and old Mexico. The oldest Mexi- can-orientated street in Los Angeles, Ol- vera Street, added to our knowledge of Spanish culture. Picnics and trips to the snow were also on the agenda. We be- came connoisseurs of Spanish food as our meetings brought us new and tantalizing Spanish dishes to try. We've had a lot of fun this year and found that learning Spanish CAN be interesting. 3 aphic rts Printing might not sound exciting to you, but we think it's a lot of fun. In very relaxed surroundings, we were taught the processes involved with printing. We made and sold the annual Northview cal- endar and this year it was done in black- light colors. Sponsoring a wheelchair Bas- ketball game enabled us to go on a camp- out at Palm Springs, and to a movie and concert in Hollywood. We also visited the graphic communications departments at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and the Los An- geles Trade and Technical School. We did a lot this year and enjoyed every minute. 182 Involvement

v J A Ooh, Yea, Yea- - r That was the sourest note l've ever heard. mi ed choir We have done quite well for first-year music students at North- view, singing at concerts, church- es, and schools. Along with the other choirs, we performed in a Christmas Concert at Covina Methodist Church. lt was a lot of fun, but scary be- cause it was our first major con- cert. We came into this class not knowing very much about high school music, but have been well taught by Mr. Lindsey. Same to you, buddy! 184 Involvement 1 , First Row: D.Reaudreoux, A.Galati, l.Strom, K.Engles, D.Glass, P.Truax, D.Oldham, D.Hartley, K.Alice, Second l.Lopez, D.Melton, V.Moreno, A.Henderson, T.Blumkey, L.Vanatta, M.lohnson, P.Kennedy.
