Various scholastic honors are offered each year to outstanding high school seniors. The following are some of the honors received by students of Northview. Bank of America certificates and plaques are presented during the spring semester on the basis of teacher recom- mendation. Certificates are awarded in ten specific categories and plaques are awarded in four general fields. Plaque winners are elibigle to compete in fu rthur competition with students from other schools for 51,000 awards. Scores received on the PSATXNMSQT taken during the junior year are the basis for receiving the National Merit Letter of Commendation. Some students who receive this award are able to compete for semi-finalist honors. A few semi-finalists are able to advance to finalist standings based on their high school records, further testing, and recommendation by school officials. The Governor's Scholars' Award is based entirely on students' academic achievements. In order to receive this award a student must have received all semester grades of A with no more than three B's, in all classes including physical education. CSF Life Membership is achieved when a student has been in CSF during four semesters, during grades ten through twelve, with at least one semester of membership occurring during the senior year. The Pasadena Greater San Gabriel Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame each year se- lects outstanding valley athletes to receive the Scholar Athlete award.
