Honor Society Northumberland High School has been honored as being a chapter of the National Honor Society. Members are elected to this society after careful, serious considera- tion by the teachers. Students are selected on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. The chosen students are ones who have always been of high character and scholarship throughout their school careers. They have been the leaders of the class and have shown outstanding service to the school and the com- munity. They are the potential citizens to whom we look for guidance in the world of tomorrow. As has been the custom for the past sixteen years the number of members is elected in accordance with a definite percentage of the number of members in the class, the greater percentage, 15 per cent from the Senior class and the smaller, 5 per cent from the Junior class. Members of the Senior class who were elected last year are: Roland Stahl, Frances Roush, Jean Reed, June Fertig and Joseph Snyder. Those Seniors elected this year are: Virginia Walker, Mary Haupt, Agnes Lewis, Gladys Young, Lee Hummel, Lois Moore and George Liddington. The Junior class members are: Fred Morgan, Roger Haddon, Ned Bell and Romaine Aumiller. A ceremonial chapel was held on Friday, May 21st, at which time the new mem- bers were installed.
