Students Freedom in Activities Whether one was studying or looking to have a good time, any one of the four study halls offered students whatever they wanted. If assigned to the 206 study hall, students were given the choice of watching movies, television, an oc- cassional game of checkers or chess, studying in the room, or going to the library. The library study hall involved no more than three to a table and quiet please, besides a variety of resources and help in projects. If assigned to the cafeteria, the situation afforded a coke or some munchies, besides a little more freedom. And, finally, if a senior's or junior's schedule fell into place, allowing a fourth period study hall, the student was given two lunch periods besides an unsupervised study period. No matter what study hall, students enjoyed the freedoms and varieties in which they could par- ticipate. Sophomore Tom Hinds studies the DAILY NEWS, Ball State's student newspaper, during his third period study hall. Expansion 39

Seniors Ken Kratz, Gale Tschour and Steve Miller demonstrate their ability to stack, tum- ble and pick-up Campbell cans. Honor Society Aids Community Besides offering two S500 scholarships to NHS seniors who are not members of Honor Society and a S100 scholarship to a member, Honor Society initiated community service projects. Ninety-eight members, helped by the NHS student body, provided the community with over 4500 cans of food distributed by the Muncie Police Department. This year, aside from donating money and food, Honor Society promoted a life- giving service, replenishing the blood bank at Ball Memorial Hospital. Ninety-six persons gave a pint of their blood in assistance to the project. The response of the Northside student body to aid H.S. members in their food drive mounts. Expansion 41
