With Eorly Job Experience - it V, if My ,Q , J . Many NHS juniors and seniors prepare themselves for their future jobs while earning credits for school at the Muncie Career Center UVICCJ. MCC gives its students, most of whom are from the area 'high schools, background knowledge and on location job experience. A stu- dent must attend the center three hours a day either in the morning hours or in the afternoon, and, in return, gets three credits for each semester he attends. Some of the career areas featured at the center are foods, child care, business, building, printing, elec- tronics, and mechanics. Using the electric air grinder is only part of the experience junior Sam Norton is gaining through mechanics. Junior John Penrod uses his time and talents developed in mechanics working on a tractor along with his classmates. Wi if

Students Freedom in Activities Whether one was studying or looking to have a good time, any one of the four study halls offered students whatever they wanted. If assigned to the 206 study hall, students were given the choice of watching movies, television, an oc- cassional game of checkers or chess, studying in the room, or going to the library. The library study hall involved no more than three to a table and quiet please, besides a variety of resources and help in projects. If assigned to the cafeteria, the situation afforded a coke or some munchies, besides a little more freedom. And, finally, if a senior's or junior's schedule fell into place, allowing a fourth period study hall, the student was given two lunch periods besides an unsupervised study period. No matter what study hall, students enjoyed the freedoms and varieties in which they could par- ticipate. Sophomore Tom Hinds studies the DAILY NEWS, Ball State's student newspaper, during his third period study hall. Expansion 39
