Only in its third year as an IHSAA sport, the girls' golf team is already showing improvement, Improvement came this year when Coach Jerry Griffey's Dollies bettered last year's record of 2-7 to a record of 5- 4 for the 1976 season. Coach Griffey presented the Low Stroke Average award to Sally Showalter. After placing third in the 1975 state tourney, the girls' varsity soft- ball team proved its power once again this summer by taking home 2 many trophies from tournaments they participated in. The team plac- ed first in the Muncie Junior League, Junior League Tournament, Women's B League Tournament, and third in a tournament at Connersville. Adding to the excite- ment, Coach Robert Carmichael this year added two more teams to the roster. A combination of these two teams placed third in a tournament at Parker. Carol Smith of the varsity team was given a special award by Coach Carmichael for her outstanding bat- ting average of .5l0. Stretching to catch the ball and obtain an out during the Junior League Tournament is Kim VanDeusen. GIRLS' VARSITY SOFTBALL ROW ONE: Karen Wilson, Shelley Walker, Pam Howard, Stacy Paul, Kim VanDeusen, Felecia Claspell, Shelly Gouveia.
