Carolyn Hazel, Patricia Smith, Ida Steubing, and Judy Neibuhr are ascending the steps to La Bahia Mission in Goliad. They were among those who went on the Junior Historians field trip. The group left the school early in the morning, and arrived back at the school late that same day. Faculty Enioy Moments ,Q ,- .- ? . 1- Arranging bouquets was one minor project in the home- making classes. Pictured left to right are Cissy Cifers, Ioan Krahn, Patsy Buser, Ida Steubing, Io An Flores, Her- linda Terrazos and Margaret I-land. This is one of the many talents that are introduced to the homemaking girls in the course. They come to realize the beauty that a simple flower arrangement can add to a table or party. l IT. N if ' 'Xxx f f Xa, Pamela Wallet and Alice Calle are enjoying their lunch in the spacious, new lunchroom area, as others behind them go about their business of eating and waiting in line for their trays of food. The new cafeteria was modern in architectural design, and it had the newest conveniences in the kitchen. These students have a right to be proud, be- cause they were among those who received certi- ficate awards at the awards assembly in May. Faculty members gave a certificate to the student with the most ambition and a certificate to the student that made the most improvement during the year. A gold medal award was presented to the student with the highest average in a teaching area. These soft drink and candy machines were kept busy after each lunch hour. This area became one of the favorite spots for relaxation during spare time. It is located between the main two story wing of the school, the ag bui1ding, and the gym. qliditors note: It appears as though Jeannie Clark cannot decide which candy bar she wants.j 21

These Pep Squad girls were beginning to wonder about all the fun you will have in the pep squad . Each year the pep squad initiates its new members. The new girls are required to wear sloppy clothes, lipstick, and un- combed hair during the day. They usually have to carry old buckets and dolls with them too. N In . AA' 1 I I f, bg An air ofreverence is reflected as these Junior Historian members admire the Fannin Me- morial in Goliad, Texas. The group made several excursions during the year to see the historic points of our great state. They learned and had fun at the same time. X r t I The National Honor Society held regular candy and cookie sales. The students patronized the booth, and the proceeds went to a welldeserving organiza- tion. fEditor's note: Danell, are you going to work, or are you just trying to make up your mind about what you should buy?j The Junior-Senior Prom was held at the Olmos Club this year. Here some of the guests are enjoying refresh- ments. One ofthe largest crowds ever to attend one of these celebrations was in attendance at the Olmos Club this year. The club was beautifullydecorated with glitter- ingsilver stars, candles, tables, and programs, A photog- rapher was available to photograph any couples who desired to have their picturetaken. The program was one thgtowill never be forgotten by those who attended. sg, 1 4513 . i' Q ' ' 71 L V' Business always seems to get in the picture some- how. Coach George Watson, Coach Charles Grimland, Mr. W. A. Blankenship, and Mr. W.F. Richards seem to be enjoying their conversation during the school district 's teachers party at Lockhill School. Folk dancing, singing, games, refreshments and many conversations filled the evening. Students ond Leisurely f' ser X 1 ., -- . if-4 '
