student body Donna Utz is shown casting her ballot for the candidate of her choice in the Student Council presidency election Sandra Bilbrey Wanda Clark and Pamela Wallet were in charge of the polls during voting hours. The polls were set up in the auditorium and each student was given the opportunity to vote for his choice for the Student Council president for the 1959-1960 schooltyear. T fi 3 Ven- .Y Danell Wallis Mary Julius fspeaking for Bar bara Van Delden who was illj and Harry Haggard candidates for Student Council president and their campaign managers Beverly Hopwood Nancy Gail Magee and Daniel Dodson respec tively prepare to speak to the student body on each candidate s qualifications in a special cam paign assembly Each candidate was given a cer tain length oftime during which he or she present ed his or her obiectives in running for the presi dency The student body acted in a very proper manner each speaker was heard and then the students were allowed to shout campaign slogans and distribute favors AND THE WINNAH. ........ K' Xsx x i Q ,, ., I Danell Wallis and Harry Haggard, the two candidates in the run-off election for Student Councilpresident, hear the results of the election. Oh, how wonderful 2 was the only exclamation that could be heard from Danell when she heard the news that she had won the election. Harry showed good sportsmanship by eagerly congratu- lating Danell. This was the climax of one ofthe most exciting Student Council elections ever held at Northside. Later in the year, Harry was elected to the post of treasurer of the Student Council for the 1959-1960 school year. 99
