Sherri Morgan MISS POLARIS CANDIDATES Joyce Webb Kathy Tomlinson Georgene Powell These four girls were the runners up, in the first Miss Polaris Contest, ever held at North ridge. A total of 415 votes from students and faculty members were cast for the five girls participating in the contest. Pat Swope was devoted a full page in the year book. She won with 125 votes. Next highest was Sophomore Joyce Webb with 111 votes, then Junior Georgene Powell with 64, Freshman Sherri Morgan followed with 47 votes, and 8th grader Kathy Tomlinson with 26 votes. -r-rn, , MISS POLARIS PAT SWOPE Miss Polaris for 1963, Senior Pat Swope, is a petite blonde who is a member of JCOWA, and is Secretary of Northridge High School Honor Society. The candidates for Miss Polaris were Senior Pat Swope, Junior Georgene Powell, Sophomore Joyce Webb, Freshman Sharon Morgan and Eighth Grader Kathy Tomlinson. First, a girl was chosen from each of the grades in the high school. Then, anyone who purchased a subscription for the 1962-63 Polaris yearbook was eligible to vote for anyone of these five girls. Pat Swope won the Miss Polaris for 1963 with 125 votes. 122

Allen, Janet Bocko, Tony Stoltz, Virginia Morse, Tom Ziramer, Nancy Woodrum, Keith Jones, Virginia Stallard, Carey Kelley, Cherry Clovis, Tom Held, Donna Anca, Melvin Krieger. FALL FESTIVAL QUEEN AND KING Sue Walters and Luther Huff Sue Walters, freshman, and Luther Huff, sophomore, were Queen and King of the Northridge Parents and Teachers Association Fall Festival on Saturday, October 13. Fun and gay occasion was provided for everyone who attended even though rain threatened the Fes- tival. Phil Wilson, English and Speech teacher at Northridge High School, delighted a good sized group when he sang two of his recordings. He sang in the auditorium during the Annual Fall Festival Dance. 124
