FRONING He came to Northridge seven years ago apd immedi atelv began to stress academic excellence. He start Itajfrthe popular annqal academic achievement ban- quet, worked with teachers to tighten the curricu- lum offerings to insure solid educational value, and -guided the faculty through North-Central evaluation. Vet he still managed to teachushis cheer at pep assemblies and boost the athletiq program. That is why we dedicatees'1982 yearDcfclf-to Dr. Froning, Northridge DistricrSuperintendent. „ I will not follow where the path may lead, But I will go where there is no path, And I will leave a trail. 4 The road we travel is long; the path we make is rough, but it's comforting to know you have friends to help you every step of the way. The making of this year's annual has been a real challenge! We got off to a late start; our large staff slowly diminished, and everything we planned did a reverse. Our staff worked around these problems (and many others), now we have a yearbook to be proud of. I put a lot of time and effort into making this annual, but I couldn’t have done it alone! I received much help and support and to those people I'd like to say thanks. Robin Fritts. our yearbook representative from Jostens. listened with an open mind to our new and crazy ideas; he even approved a few. Thank you! Ron. our Cubberly photographer, was great! He took interest in our school and it's activities. His photography skills were much appreciated and needed. Mom and Dad were a big help. They picked me up every Monday night without complaint, kept my dinner warm; and when I was too tired to goon, they sent me to bed. I LOVE YOU! Mrs. Poe let us do our own thing this year. We came up with the ideas and she helped us build on them. Thank you for your suggestions, patience, and time. My staff was the best! They didn't always understand what I was trying to say or do. but they tried. Thanks for your hard work and ambition. (Good luck on next year's book. Monica!) Last, I would like to thank the faculty, administration, and student body Your cooperation, involvement, and pride is what makes the Norhian successful and fun to produce. THANK YOG! — Laura Wilson 1981-82 Editor DOWN MEMORY LANE NHS be small but it is full of school PRIDE and SPIR- IT. Our memories lie here — with sports, drama, music and academic achievements. Walk with us “Down Memory Lane,” as we try to capture, in pictures, the 1982 school year. PATHWAYS OF SONG We sing a song along the trail That leads into the wood; We act upon a mountaintop Where nature is bright and good. ' Hats off! Along the road there comes A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums; And loyal hearts are beating high. Hats off! The band is passing by. The good green earth beneath our feet, The trails and paths so flowery sweet, A hidden longing deep within, Some thoughts — some dreams, A goal to win! It Peanutbutter My buddy — My pal! The Vikings already tied the most wins at Northridge and were going for the record. The offense never got the ball across the 30-yard line of J-Town. In the loss to Newark Catholic. Eric Snyder put six points on the board and the Vikes were successful in a two-point conversion. This was the last home game for the seniors. Even though it was 34° at the end of the game, the Mighty Vikes tromped the Utica Redskins 16-0 — the third shutout for the Vikes. Trent Bou dinot put the first 6 points on the board in the first quarter; then a Compton to Wilson pass gave the Vikes an 8-0 lead. In the fourth quar ter. Mark Wilson scored for the Vikes for an other two-point conversion. In earlier games, the Vikes dropped to the Licking Valley Pan thers and walked over the Licking Heights Hor nets in the Homecoming Game. _ Rick Bennett. 1981 SAGA Jeff Dingess, John Compton, Chris Byrd, Mark Wilson, Randy Hatfield, Mark Whitt, Trent Boudinot, Eric Snyder, Dave Bishop iA coa i ES: Ed Ziegler, Brian Beatty, Jim Gastin, Lynn March, Ron Stemen and Head Coach — Chuck Beach L W Brian Newkirk Tri-Captain John Compton TriGaptain Mark Whitt Tri-Captain Chris Byrd Alan, Mark, Brian, Ken, Chris, Mark, John ALL STATE HONORS Mark Whitt.
