NORHIAN 1981 VOLUME XVIII i NORTHRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL TABLE OF CONTENTS DEDICATION 3 EDITOR’S PAGE 4 FACULTY-ADMINISTRATION 5 SENIOR CLASS 15 UNDERCLASSMEN 33 SUMMER ACTIVITIES 53 FALL ACTIVITIES 59 WINTER ACTIVITIES 75 SPRING ACTIVITIES 87 ORGANIZATIONS 107 ADVERTISING-INDEX 139 2 DON SULLIVAN Although he is quiet and rarely seen in the halls; when he is on the basketball sidelines, he becomes a tiger. For four periods a day, Mr. Sullivan is a science teacher; for two periods a day, the Northridge Athletic Director; and for many after-school hours, a great basketball coach. He puts much effort into his work year around and is dedicated to the students he teaches and trains. The Norhian staff recognizes this dedication and appreci- ates you, Mr. Sullivan. Therefore, we would like to dedi- cate this, our 1981 Norhian, to you. Most sincerely, The 1981 Yearbook Staff “Seasons in the Sun” What could make a more perfect theme? As freshmen entering Northridge the chance to get out seems so far away. Yet the seasons pass swiftly and when you reach your senior year you wonder where all that time went. The Norhian staff hopes to keep the fun- filled seasons of the past year alive! Much work went into the annual this year, and there are many people whom 1 need to thank. The staff put a lot of hard effort, trying to carry out my wishes and live up to everyone’s expectations. I’d like to thank them, not only for the work and dedication, but also for putting up with me. I would also like to thank Mrs. Poe who put in a lot of overtime to make this year’s annual one of the best. She took part of her vacation time and family time to organize and work on this yearbook. Last, but not least, I would like to thank the faculty and student body for putting up with our picture days, name misspelling, class interruptions, etc. Without you and your support, this yearbook would not be possible. Our main goal was to please you. Did we succeed!? — Laura Wilson 1980-81 Editor FACULTY ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION Members of the Class of 1981 are congratulated for their dedication in completing the requirements for their diplomas. Each of you has gained knowledge and skills throughout your school years. The time has now come to meet the many challenges that life brings with it. As each of you goes forth to meet these challenges, you do so with the knowledge and satisfaction of knowing that you had the patience, dedication, social skills, and academic ability to graduate from high school. This is an accomplishment in which each of you should take great pride. As you go forth, whether it be to a new job, the armed forces, or further schooling, it is my fervent hope that you have learned not only of the individual rights guaranteed by our Constitution, but also, and perhaps more importantly, that you have gained a through knowledge of and developed a desire to accept the duties and meet the responsibilities of good citizen- ship. Too many are unwilling to accept these responsibilities and seek only to serve themselves. It is my hope that each of you meets these responsibilities with a firm desire to serve with distinction in whatever role or capacity required. Our country is a great one and needs citizens dedicated to its ideals if the children of the Class of 1981 are to enjoy the same blessings as their parents. Good luck and best wishes for the future. May each of you be a positive force in your chosen pursuit. DR. JACOB F. FRONING, SUPERINTENDENT 1964 Findlay College-B.S. Degree 1966 Ohio University-M.S.
