He arrives early each morning in proud command of his big white bomb. Hailing from the State of Pennsylvania, you need only to make one doubtful statement about the merits of seventh-rated Penn State to entice Mr. Ziegler to his second favorite subject along with famous stories of wood hicks and school days with Dwight Eisenhower. His favorite subject is nationalism. Any of his students will firmly attest to his exuberant enthusiasm for history which has even led some students to believe that history is their favorite subject. Rumor has it that he has been guilty of multilating many a blackboard in his celebrated career; they are the unfortunate recipients of his spirited attempt to introduce such events as . . . the Civil War! His loyal fans and friends reveal that he gets his exercise by swaying back and forth in door frames while talking a mile a minute. Mr. Ziegler is one of the friendlier species. You can wave to him in the hall and always get a chuckful reply, but don’t count on him getting your name right. Adding new zeal to the classroom grind is Mr. Ziegler’s image. Sporting wire rims and a crumb catcher, he endears himself to the hearts of history haters everywhere. adapted from the Northridge Saga American History class was a first for all of us. We not only learned history, we learned how to find laughter and reality in the past. You enjoyed teaching and you cared—that’s why we dedicate this book to you. It is only a small token of our feelings but it will serve to remind you of us, we hope, just as we will remember you. The Norhian Staff We Dedicate The 74 Norhian To You! 3 Board Of Education SEATED: Mr. Parsons. President; Mrs. Tritt. Clerk: Mr. Hankinson. Vice-President. STANDING; Mr. Rogge. Mr. Van Fossen. Mr. Dudgeon We the members of the Board of Education wish to con- gratulate you upon your graduation from Northridge Schools. We hope you can remember your allegiance to your school, community, state, and country because we feel that this is the cornerstone of your life. 6 Superintendent Mr. Samuel Beli Education is one of the important parts of the process of growing from childhood to maturity. There are many arguments about the method of presenting it. acquiring it. and of financial support for it. There are no arguments about the value of a good education. These seniors will find how well they have prepared themselves for the next step of life after they have taken a job or gone on to further training. We know, in the Northridge District, that many people have expended a lot of time, effort, and money to prepare the graduates for that big next step. We wish them success in their career and in their family life. Principal Mr. James Congrove Graduation from High School is one of two things - an end or a beginning. For those who view it as an end. the future will probably prove narrow and restricted. For those who view their education as a kind of beginning, the future will prove broad and limitless. For the class of 1974 this perspective has already been set. For the classes to follow, the challenge of direction still lies ahead. Hopeful- ly the value of a beginning will be recogniz- ed. Good Luck from the entire staff of Northridge High School. 7 Mrs. Patty Oyler High School Secretary Secretaries Mrs. Fay Beever District Secretary Mrs. Margaret Tritt Clerk of the Board Mrs. Evelyn Frickert Purchasing Check Secretary SURANCS MINT OPEN 8 Mrs. Evelyn Biga Mrs. Alberta DiLeo Mr. Don Dolwick Mrs. Edna Dumbauld Mr. Dave Grieser Mrs. Mary Ann Grieser Miss Linda Hartsook Mr. William Hill Mrs. Jane King Mr. Jim Kreinbrink Mrs. Martha Loats Mr. Timm Mackley Mrs. Inez McNemar Mrs. Jeanne Megaw Mr. Dave Myers 10 Mr. Dave Neel Mr. Ken Newland Mrs. Theresa Patterson Mr. Dan Spears Mrs. Tina Prior Mrs. Joyce Poe Mr. Robin Smith Mrs. Karen Spears Mr. Rick Thomas Cooks And Custodians Mrs. Knauff. Most people don't realize the large amount of time, effort, and concentra- tion that goes into a project like this. I would like to thank most of the faculty for their cooperation during the photography and especially for excus- ing staff members from other extra-curricular activities to come to the meetings. I would es- pecially like to thank the coaches for. through all the picture-taking, the coaches and their athletes were the most cooperative, the best behaved, and the easiest to work with. I would also like to thank my staff for all the hours of hard work. But most of all I would like to thank my editors and advisor. Their time and effort were the pillars on which this book was built.
