SUPERINTENDENT Graduates: You are about to emerge into a society which is tom, at times, in crucial debates and social con- flict. Much has been written and spoken for the poor, the degraded, the rich, and the powerful. and what has happened is that your American heri- tage has hammered out a democracy with a spirit of freedom. It has been growing and gaining strength and each of us who has eyes to see and a heart with which to feel knows that we are still progressing. Each of you must contribute his part to the fight in order that we might maintain a nation in which the democratic spirit is vibrant and alive. ?y). PRINCIPAL The question has been asked. “Today is the tomorrow you talked about yesterday—does it meet your expectations?” To the Senior Class of 1972 the yesterdays were 1969, 1970, and 1971. Perhaps now you are in a better position to view these many yesterdays with a more objective eye to how they brought you to Today. It would be our hope, we the faculty and staff of Northridge High School, that this class divorce itself from the fatalistic and negative tone of life that has prevailed in many young lives for the past few years. Divorce itself from this and instead look positively to the future, optimistic and con- fident in their various abilities to succeed tomor- row, helped by their experiences of yesterday. Best wishes for continued success. 7
