Inexperienced as we were, we showed good judgment by electing Walter Bracy, president, Richard Walsh, vice president, Joane Schlottmann, secretary, and Patricia Dugan, treasurer. Even though we mixed up teachers and confused rooms, we made it through our Fresh- man year at Northport High without too much difficulty. Summer vacation was a welcome change, but we were glad to get back to school again. Frank McBrien, was at the helm this year, with Kirby Welden an able first mate. Pat Dugan was at her post as secretary and Isabelle Zimmerman was hand- ling the finances. We worked hard on our Hallo- ween float and were rewarded by taking first prize with our Pirate Ship. In the fall, we sponsored a square dance, which turned out to be a terrific success. As Juniors, Kirby Welden took over as chief executive with Michael Albino his second in com- mand. Pat Dugan was again taking the minutes, while Dennis McCormick stepped into the job of money- man. Our Halloween float Flappers of the 20's took first prize, much to our pleasure. Later in the year our Sadie Hawkins square dance proved lots of fun. While a spring bake sale netted quite a profit. At last we entered our Senior year. Pat Dugan showed us that a woman can become president but, of course, not without the aid of a male veep, Howard Lucas. joane Schlottmann, secretary and Maureen Kelly, treasurer. As soon as school began, we started planning our float for Halloween. It was the French Revolution , having a guillotine and all. We won first prize for the third straight time. We worked hard on our yearbook with the help of Mr. Carden and Mr. Maguire. Everyone cooper- ated to make it a big success. Magazine sales, candy and Christmas card sales all added to the treasury. Although the past four years were hard at times, we made it successfully. As we marched down the aisle for the last time we were saddened to leave all the friends and fun at Northport High School. Flappers of '5 3 freomannei .
