Art Classes Are Growing The Northmont Art Department has grown from a small general art course to a diversified, expanding department including three levels of instruction, Art ll, lll and IV, Art History, and Arts and Crafts. Mr. Cornell teaches Art ll and Arts and Crafts, while Mr. Skaroupka has Art lll, IV, and teaches Art History and some Arts and Crafts classes. Students are generally left to their own devices as to what they can or should produce, as to encourage their own unique development in Art. Students who plan to con- tinue in art are not at odds with the students who take the course just as a pleasant form of self-expression. The first three years try to explore as many mediums available to a school art department as expenses and involvement allow. Art IV is the culmination of everything learned before, when the student compiles a portfolio shown in the Spring Art Show. TOP RIGHT: Norm Skaroupka checks out the kiln.
