Seat belts fastened? Doors locked? Nlirrors ad- justed? These are just a few of the familiar rules a driver's education student learns in the driver's ed. classroom. lt prepares our future drivers to face the hectic driving world of today. The material presented is a very necessary and com- plete background which will be beneficial to the student when he receives his license. The stu- dents like the teachers' methods of teaching, using their own experiences and those of others to relate to the students the importance of be- coming good drivers. The teachers' added humor, occasionally helps their effectiveness. Actual driving practice in the car takes plaoe once a week for about an hour and a half either in the morning or after school hours. Because of the limited time element, students must get most of their driving practice at home. Therefore, the cooperation of the parents is needed. Through- out the year, students receive a course in the mobile simulator, provided by the state of Ohio, in which the students learn how to cope with emergency situations. One of the disadvantages the students complain of, is taking the many notes daily. This problem can't be helped be- cause of the many classes that don't have books. The taking of notes is necessary. When a student was asked if the course was worth his time he replied. Definitely! I feel that when I do receive my license l'll at least be able to protect myself from the 9096 of only average drivers in the world. And after all, driving is something l'll do the rest of my life. t Seat Belts Fastened?
