Fran Bolinger looks away from Imy's desk, appalled. gulf, -'wiggl- Student works under pressure of a timed typing test. Our course of study revolved around three areas this year: classwork, office work, and club activities. ln class we developed our skills in typing, office machines, business math, business English, filing, and office practice. We discussed good human relations and business behavior. And we also engaged in girl talk and what are little girls made of , today's version. lVlr. Jordon, from the Farmers 84 Merchants Bank came to class and introduced us to the world of finance. We learned how to open a checking account--and savings accounts, too. Later, we learned about our income tax returns. Miss Carlin came from General Telephone and gave us some hints on applying for jobs. We finally learned what to put down on a job application for salary desired , lYou put open , of course.l Then we went to work. Using our skills, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn, we successfully fulfilled our job expectations. We found an exciting, busy world of activity outside our classroom. We got our own desk, typewriter, telephone, and . . . a boss! But we worked hard and were rewarded with full time job offers, opportunity for paid future training and schooling, and some of us got nice Christmas bonuses. To show our appreciation to the people who gave us an opportunity to learn about the world of week, we invited them to our annual employer appreciation banquet at the Brown Derby in May. We planned the entire affair and made all the arrangements. After work, we had some fun together. We went to breakfast, had a pizza party, went to Ponderosa for dinner and a Christmas exchange, and had a bridal shower. lt seems we ate a lot this year, too. We went to the Ohio Office Education Association, which is the regional, state, and national affiliation of our local club, regional convention and took part in electing regional officers. ln February we went to contest at the joint vocational school, and we won! Robbin Kidd won 1st place in shorthand ll, Diane Behnken won lst place in General Clerical ll, and Pat Lewis took 5th place in accounting ll. lt was a good year for us. We experienced many new things, and we learned about people and making good value judgments. Most of all we paved our path into our future, which looks like a good one.
