The fall play The Bad Seed was presented in the auditorium on November 10 and 11. The story is of a psychotic little girl who commits three murders and lives so that she can commit more whenever they may be convenient. Written with reserve and skill . . . The Bad Seed is an extraordinarily literate horror story and a superior bit of theatre. Little Rhoda Penmark is the evil queen of the story. On the surface, she is sweet, charming, full of old-fashioned graces, loved by her parents, admired by all her elders. But Rhoda's mother has an uneasy feeling about her. Vvhen one of Rhoda's schoolmates is mysteriously drowned at a picnic, Mrs. Penmark is alarmed. For the boy who was drowned was the one who had won the penmanship medal that Rhoda felt she deserved. lt involves a mysterious murder, farther back in Rhoda's infamous career, and a gruesome murder later on when she fears that she is being trapped. rr., ,-4 Xxx. ala rsll , . . RUMPELSTILTSKIN The Children's play this year was Fiumpelstiltskin, which was presented in three showings January 12. The play written by Director Charles Lewis' wife Jean was a huge success. Later in the spring the play was taken on tour to various elementary schools in the area. Those participating inthe cast were: Patti Jones - Millicent, Jack Drudy - Miller, Jett Powers - Prime Minister, Jeff Smalley - King, Nancy Shel- ton - l-lairyette, Cindy Finnicum - Rotunda, Gret- chen Herr - Twerpsickoree, and Mitch Spiro - Ftumpelstiltskin. The members of the chorus were: Barney Houtchins, Joel Johanson, Rob Stout, Cindy Black, Jody Daulton, Debbie Erickson, Mickey Hop- per, Susy Laird, Jeanne Titus, and Barb Watson. l t Rumpelstiltskin CMitch Spiroj shows his deep concentration as he spins straw into gold.
