Physical Education Department The physical education department offered several different activi- ties. Some of them included volleyball, basketball, tennis, gymnastics, soccer, and baseball. This year the girls physical education course offered self-defense, which taught girls how to protect themselves if necessary. The Health classes this year provided the students with experi- enced speakers and movies. The chairman of the physical education department was Mr. Wickiser. ,Amt Ivir. The Man and His Environment course has taken the place of the traditional Principles of Democracy. This course was taught in the new team teaching method in which Miss Mitchell, Mrs. Weeks, and Mr. Stafford combined their classes with each of the teachers specialized in a certain area of study. World History was also revised this year, being divided into world cultures, instead of the traditional chronological history. Mr. Stafford was department chairman.
