Ma th Department Northland's math department headed by Mr. Huber, did not change its Curriculum much from last year. The math topics course was offered and added a new class in slide rule. Mr. Smeltz tried out a new method of open classroomv teaching for geometry students this year, which gave the student a chance to work at his own pace and on his own level. Physical Education Department The physical education department offered several different activi- ties. Some of them included volleyball, basketball, tennis, gymnastics, soccer, and baseball. This year the girls physical education course offered self-defense, which taught girls how to protect themselves if necessary. The Health classes this year provided the students with experi- enced speakers and movies. The chairman of the physical education department was Mr. Wickiser. ,Amt Ivir.
