Vice=P Fimcipa 1 I feel that this first year at North- field has been one that will long be remennbered by many. Where else but in a country and community like ours could the remarkable achievement of con- solidating four areas into one be accom- plished with so little turmoil and strife. We have a lot to be grateful for in this our fine new building and the educational opportunities presented here. I know that as your guidance director many things did not get accomplished that were hoped for, but ground work has been laid for the future that will offer to each and every student the type of service he needs and wants. It has indeed been a pleasure to be associated with so many fine students and faculty as has been my privilege dur- ing this school year. The first year of Northfield athletics has been a complete success. The student body, the faculty, and the parents as well as other patrons have made this so. In the future when we look back on 1962- 63 we will have great recollections of our first athletic teams. Progress, however, will be our pass- word. We look forward to our new foot- ball field, baseball diamond, a complete physical education field. We look forward to adding wrestling, tennis, and gymnas- tics to our programs. Greatness will be achieved by a deter- mined group; the Norsemen have proven this year to want to be this type of group. Good luck to the class of 1963, our first alumni. Never give up the classes to follow. C£ , ■. -

p Fiiacipa We have rapidly approached the final days of our first year at Northfield. Many important firsts have occurred during this time— the first day of school, the first football game, the Christmas dance, dedication of our school, the first Northfield Junior-Senior Prom, and most recently, the first Northfield High School Commencement. Our school has been established as a consolidated unit to provide improved and varied facilities for both the youth and adults of the community. We believe that the patrons of Northfield know that education is a primary part of a great nation ' s foundation; to build that foundation, it is necessary that young people acquire certain fundamental skills, habits, and attitudes. Only in this way can they become responsible members of their communities and of their country. I have been privileged to serve as principal of Northfield this year. This has given me a greater perspective of education— its changes and its continuing challenges. To the Class of 1963, and to the future classes of Northfield, may your successes be rewarding. May you also remember this- There is a destiny that makes us brothers; None goes his way alone: All that we send into the lives of others Comes back into our own. Edwin Markham iz£.o€d
