The R 1 mbler N. H. S. ORCHESTRA This year the orchestra. was composed mostly of new ztilniliers, but we still had seven cf our old members left. There being a better assxrtmznt of instrurnents, the orfliestra was much improved. Of course we must not forget thiit most of this was d ue to our faith- ful supervisor, Mrs. H. A. Vklhitney. Much time and energy we spent practicing for the contest number and also for the All-Ftate Orchestra, in which only the older members played. We will Tf it never fogat how many times Mrs. Whitiiey asked us to play the starch fi'i- taiie over, so that we would be able to play it with a little speed . We have played at a number of outside entertainments and for High School and Graded School graduation. We sincerely hope the orchestra will continue to improve as it has this year.
Nielsen Thirty-three 33 OPERETTA W This year another successful operetta was put on under the direction of Mrs. XYhitney. Rice, cherry-blossoms, tea, adventure, romance. and even pig-tails gave a veritable picture of China in the operetta, The Tea House of Sing Lo . Allan Sherman was an American electrical sign salesman whose cleverness was t vo much for the very sedate Sing Lo, played by Gerald Beaudette. Agnes Falzerana, the heroine, added romance to the operetta. Barbara Howd and Clare Christmas made very cute Chinese girls, while Lloyd Fiske and Catharine Connarn supplied the humor. Norbert Blanchette and Lawrence Cleveland played the part of American consul and business man and Ruth Caswell was the wife who decidedly dominated the latter. Put all these together in one per- formance and the operetta turns out just as you expect it to-a success.
