6-P55556 MATHEMATICS CONTEST CLUB The ten members of the Mathematics Contest Club selected because of their exceptional mathematical abilities meet every Wednesday afternoon to prepare for various local contests They partici pated in the contests sponsored by the Bergen County Mathematics League Miss Reece is the faculty advisor who directs this club MODEL RAILROAD CLUB Under the direction of Mr Dance the Model Railroad Club is constructing a Model railroad layout in the school fan room. The members therefore can easily study the techniques of construction and operation of model railroads. President: Joe Kraus Vice President: Martin Kern- Secretary-Treasurer: Chris Campbell. ADVANCED SCIENCE CLUB Mr. Fossa directs the Advanced Science Club which is comprised of about eigh- teen members. Because these students represent only the upper two classes in Northern Valley, the club is better able to explore the more complex areas of science. President: Eugene Benklemann.

I H GREEK LANGUAGE CLUB The purpose of the Greek Language Club is to familiarize students with classical Greek Language and to study the Greek etymological derivation of many English words. Mr. Strohmeyer, the club's ad- visor, concentrates mainly on the mechanics of the language rather than Greek history. President: Ellen Goldensohn SPORTS OFFICIATING Convening on Mondays, the Sports Officiating Club discusses with Mr. Luciano the rules and interpretations of various sports: football, basketball, base- ball and track. Its membership consists mainly of people who have participated in varsity sports. OUTDOOR CLUB Under the able direction of Mr. Erber, the Outdoor Club, freshman group, meets regularly to discuss numerous outdoor sports, activities, and types of recreation. There are approximately thirty-five mem- bers who participate actively in the club's activities. President: James Lowe. 91

VALLEY ENGINEERS CLUB The main function of the Valley Engineers Club, under the direction of Mr. Cimmino, is to foster an interest in civil engineering by observation of stand- ard building practices. Many informa- tive discussions are held concerning the practical applications of engineering to various types of construction and archi- tecture. President: Mark Spitzer, Sec- retary-Treasurer: Joe Kraus. RUSSIAN CLUB Sponsored by Mr. Stanewick, the Russian Club is one of Northern Valley's newest and most interesting clubs. The mem- bers learn on an elementary level the anthology, pronunciation and usage of the Russian language. President: John Logsdon. AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS CLUB The Audio-Visual Aids Club assists at all school affairs where they operate movies and slide proiectors. Under the sponsor- ship of Mr. Schrock, these students, who are interested in such mechanics, also provide classrooms with protection equip- ment.
