N20 Ft JUNIOR RED CROSS The Jumor Red Cross advised by Miss DeRosa participates in community and school prolects and assists the needy Fifty five Junior Red Cross members representative of the sophomore lunuor and senior classes meet on Monday to take part in this worthy organization President L L Lawrence FRESHMEN JUNIOR RED CROSS Luke so many of Northern Valleys clubs this year the Junior Red Cross Club has found it necessary to divide into two sections-one for upperclassmen and one for underclassmen. This the freshmen division of the Red Cross meets alone every Thursday and enioys activities sim- ilar to those of the larger club. BIOLOGY CLUB The Biology Club's seventeen members under the supervision of Mr. Ritchie meet every Monday. They discuss new develop- ments in the biological fields, both botanical and zoological, and any other topics of special interest which are not usually covered in the school biology course.

X--X CREATIVE WRITING CLUB The Creative Writing Club, under the guidance of Mr. Miller, tries to develop the interests and abilities of its members in writing poetry, plays, and stories. They discuss sundry works of note and, in group discussions, criticize their own individual literary efforts. MODEL MAKERS CLUB The Model Makers Club, comprised of fifteen members, meets Wednesday morn- ings. The club, under the guidance of Mr. Wilson, designs and makes models of ships, boats or other means of trans- portation. They also discuss modelmak- ing as a hobby. KNITTING CLUB Sixteen nimble-knuckled-knitters, under the guidance of Miss Small, meet each Thursday during thirteenth period and, thereby, form our Knitting Club. The members are primarily freshmen who work on individual items during their meetings and receive advice concerning outside proiects. 87

GYMNASTICS CLUB The Gymnastics Club affords boys who are sincerely interested in athletics, the opportunity to use various gym equip- ment. They develop new skills by using the horse, the flying rings, and the parallel bars. Mr. Hildebrandt directs the vigorous group. FRESHMEN GOLF CLUB The Freshmen Golf Club, advised by Mr. Kelly, affords its members golf practice and an opportunity to investigate the philosophy behind this sport. It also fur- nishes a source of prospective golfers for Northern Valley's Golf Team. SCIENCE AND ASTRONOMY CLUB Mr. Roberts sponsors the Science and Astronomy Club, which is comprised of fifteen freshmen. Being a scientific group, this club studies man's penetration and conquest of his physical environment, not only on the earth's surface, but also beneath the sea and in outer space.
