4 L ! F, ,ww J LETTERMAN'S CLUB The Letterman's Club, sponsored by Mr. Yockers, is an activity for the Varsity lettermen of the school. Meeting on Friday mornings, these boys establish themselves as leaders of the athletes of Northern Valley. With the money they receive from the athletic tournaments at Northern Valley, they purchase awards for their senior members. President: Anthony Savoca. MATHEMATICS REVIEW CLUB The Mathematics Review Club under the supervision of Miss Reece affords its thirty sux sophomore tumor and senior members an opportunity to prepare for College Board Examinations by review mg not only algebra and geometry but also preliminary mathematics Students solve practice problems during the club period and then discuss possible solutions DRAMATICS CLUB The Dramatics Club gives interested stu- dents a chance to increase their dramatic experience. Under the direction of Mr. Fitzsimmons, the members, during their club meetings, put on short plays or portions of plays.

P11 1 .ll F. T. A. CLUB The purpose of the Future Teachers of America, sponsored by Miss Trexler, is to interest its members in a career in teaching. The thirty-five members spon- sor two Tag Days each year, and the proceeds of these go toward a scholar- ship for a senior who plans to enter the teaching profession. President: Lynn Lar- son, Vice-President: Mary Keane, Secre- tary: Joyce Gargan. NORVALIS CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The Norvalis Chapter of the National Honor Society is comprised of selected students of the Senior Class who are chosen because of their leadership, schol- arship, service, and character. The Chapter meets on Fridays and is advised by Mr. Duff about any pertinent school matters. President: Hugh Comfort, Vice- President: Mark Spitzer, Secretary: Joyce Gargen, Treasurer: Peter Nowak. GREGG CLUB Sponsored by Miss Rude, the Gregg Club is organized to give advanced shorthand and typing students an opportunity to earn awards given by the Gregg Publish- ing Co. for both speed and accuracy. FROSH TENNIS CLUB Another of our freshmen clubs, the Frosh Tennis Club, meets every Thursday after- noon, under the guidance of Mr. Dotson. It is designed to promote interest in tennis and to improve the tennis skills of its members so that they will be better able to enioy the game. Eventually, these stu- dents will be the Varsity Tennis Team at Northern Valley. WORLD AFFAIRS CLUB The purpose of the World Affairs Club is to discuss current events and to learn about the history behind such events. The Club, under the leadership of Mrs. Decker, has participated in one of the several seminars held at the United Nations. SKI CLUB One of the more exciting clubs of the school is the Ski Club. Under the guid- ance of Mr. Shine, these ambitious snow fiends improve their skiing know- ledge. They take trips to nearby resorts to practice their new learned techniques. President: Allan Johnson, Vice-President: Lorraine Thomson, Secretary: Eileen Gay- nor, Treasurer: Lois Wilson.
