JUNIOR SECRETARIES CLUB The purpose of the Junior Sec- retary Club, sponsored by Miss Audesirk, was to train girls to use business machines which they may encounter in their future em- ployment. JOURNALISM CLUB The members of the Journalism Club, in co-operation with the iournalism class, not only assist- ed in the publication of our school newspaper, Northern Star, but also learned basic iournalistic skills. A trip to a large metropoli- tan newspaper helped the mem- bers to understand better the or- ganization and publication of a newspaper. HlY Under the supervision of Mr. Howarth, the Hi-Y endeavored to create and maintain a high stand- ard of Christian character. The club's purpose was to serve not only the school but also the world. Some of the club's activi- ties included ushering at basket- ball games, and sponsoring a Hi-Y vs. faculty basketball game, in the future the Hi-Y hopes to promote a world project. Standing: Mr. J. GERMAN CLUB Mrs. LiCalzi, German Club ad- visor, helped the members ot her club to enioy and understand German. ln March, the members, together with some of the Ger- man class, saw a movie and ate lunch at a German restaurant in New York City. R Smeelings. Seated: C. ENGLISH CLUB Cl07, Mr. Stanewick's room, was the home of the English Club, which met there on Wednesday mornings. This small group was interested in learning more about English literature. Together, they read the classics, including, of course, something by Shake- speare. They spent much time analyzing Hamlet.
