MODEL RAILROAD CLUB The railroad train has always held a fascination for both young and old, the constant growl of the Diesel and the throbbing pulsations of the steam locomo- tive have captured the young hearts of the boys of the Model Railroad Club. More than a club, the boys found it not only pleas- urable, but equally informative- working in scale, building cars locomotives, scenery-volts anc polarity, a true model brother- hood of youth united in the en- ioyment of working with and for the pleasure of another under the direction of Mr. Dance, advisor. The boys studied and in- spected unusual types of guns. Because there was no range this year, the members were not able to have target practice. L 1 Y LATIN CLUB Under the supervision of Mrs. Shea, the Latin Club, officially called The Roman Republic , was composed of first year Latin pupils. Rerum Principia Parva , which means All Beginnings Are Small, was the club's motto. The organization's activities in- cluded singing Latin songs, play- ing Latin games, producing play- lets, and studying Roman customs. Back Row: C. Mason, M. Fleschhut, J. Bertinelli, L. Sypher, R. AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS CLUB ln El l0, on Monday mornings, President Caulfield called this club to order. Under the direction of Mr. Steckline, these boys learned to use the proiectors, tape recorders, and phonographs in the school. The boys, in turn, helped the teachers by running the equipment. MAJORETTE CLUB Under the supervision of Mr. Brown, Lori Vollmer, the Head Maiorette, trained the future Northern Valley maiorettes by teaching them basic twirls. The girls, freshmen and sophomores, met on Thursday afternoons for their twirling sessions. The neces- sary qualifications for member- ship were the following: loose wrists and a good sense of rhythm. V---Q CHEERLEADING CLUB The Cheering Club, which was formed in the spring, consisted of girls who were interested in improving their cheering ability. Under the supervision of Miss Schneider, and with the assistance of the Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders, the members pre- pared themselves for the try-outs for next year's cheerleaders at the end of the year.
