Two departments combine to display operatic talent The music and drama departments of NSC combined their talents to present two operas on the evenings of March 7 and 8, l968. The First, The Medium, delved into the spirit world of seances. The second, Trouble in Tahiti, represented the contemporary problems of bustling city life. Graham Thatcher, assistant professor ofspeech and drama, staged the operas. Dr. John Berggren, chairman of the Division of Fine Arts, directed.

First runner-up, Jean Jensen, Miss NSC, Kathy Weisgramg second runner-up, Kathy Gross . Sopll captures NSC ro ul title A sweet voice, a charming smile, a magnetic personality -- and you have Miss NSC of l968. Kathy Weisgram, Pierre sophomore, rose above some tough competition to win the year's crown and the right to represent Northern at the Miss South Dakota pageant. First runner-up, Jean Jensen, Sioux Falls freshman, was also chosen Miss Congeniality by her Fellow contestants. Kathy Gross, freshman, proved that Pierre offers more than one talented Miss as she was chosen second runner-up. Miss NSC of 1967, Mary Jo Reiners, relinquishes her crown to her lovely successor.

Kramer presents diplomas For the last time in his twelve-year career as head adminis- trator at Northern, Dr. J . Howard Kramer awarded diplomas at the Spring Commencement. On May 28, l968, 243 seniors re- ceived recognition of the completion of their college courses of study. The graduates awaited this day with expectation and antici- pation, and received their diplomas with a smile of ioy -- and relief. l Dr. George W. Starcher, center, President of the University of North Dakota, gave the graduation address. Discussing the ceremonies with Dr. Starcher are Dean Clarke and Dr. Kramer. F
