SENIOR CLASS HISTORY The last paragraphs were wrxtten lll the memory book of the class of 59 on May 29 After twelve years of workmg and playtng together Commencement brought these acuon packed years to a close. Do you remember the day Ul September 56 when the three schools were off1c1al1y brought together m the new bu11d1ng'7 That year started a cha1n of lastmg frlendshtps as we worked together and became better acquamted There were seventy of us that year and we had the followmg class off1cers Tom Gllmand Presxdent Shxrley Dunham Treasurer Rex Reynolds V1ce Presldent Mr Carpenter Advlger Pat Sebasttan Secretary Htghhghtmg our soc1al act1v1t1es at Northern Potter were a number of emoyable events Durtng our sophomore year we took a bus to Wellsvtlle for a mov1e skatmg party At the close of our Junlor year we went to Lyman Run Lake for a p1cn1c Our annual prom and banquet were the outstandmg events of both our Jumor and semor year We went from the starry hetghts to the watery depths as we presented A Sta1rway to the Stars ID our Jun1or year and Paradtse of the Deep ' tn our semor year The Junlors and sentors worked together to make these events a success We numbered s1xty two as we elected the followmg off1cers and advtsers to lead us m our Juntor year Jtm Stewart Prestdent Pat Sebasnan Secretary Tom Gxlhland V1ce Prestdent Mary Jane Chase Treasurer Mrs Kear Adv1ser Mr Kllgore Asststant Advtser We were thrtlled as we dxsplayed our class rmgs early 1n our Jumor year Our sentor trtp to Wash lngton was our goal as we set about to ratse money We worked hard trymg to beat the senlors tn our magaztne sales campatgn, Th1s project was repeated tn our semor year We gamed the most toward our goal w1th the sale of Chrtstmas cards Pleasure and busmess were combmed when we sponsored our St Pat's Dance. We presented two plays The Skeleton Walks whtlejuntors and Papa Was a Preacher whtle semors We entered our sentor year wtth f1fty seven classmates and ended w1th ftfty f1ve. The off1cers for th1s year were Don Durandetta Prestdent Sandra Dw1ght Secretary Charles Cornell V1ce Prestdent Gerald Empson Treasurer Mrs Kear Advtser Mr Btxby Asststant Advlser We began our year w1th the 1n1t1at1on of the freshmen. The freshmen enjoyed bemg 1n1t1ated as much as we sentors enloyed pestermg them We have had many persons from our class honored U1 several ways Nancy K1dney and Tom G1Jl1 land were selected to attend the Governor s Conference lI'1 Harrtsburg on Understandlng Youth and Par ents In the fxeld of sports Bob Carpenter Tom G1ll.1lar1d and Charhe Cornell were found on the basket ball court wlth Clatr Slawson as manager and Bonnle Cole and Ed1th Storey among the cheerleaders We had Rex Reynolds, Larry Dunn Tom Gtlllland and Clalr Slawson on the baseball fxeld and Don Durandetta and Frank Furman on the track team. Representmg us at D1str1ct Chorus were Bonnte Cole Suzie Tomb Tom G1ll11and and Dave Munyon Suzxe was also honored when she was chosen to go to State Chorus Joyce Smtth was the only one elected from our class to attend Dtstrtct Band. On Award Day many members of our class walked off wtth honors The cul.m1nat1on of our goal was realtzed on May ll as we left for Washmgton. Every one of the four days we spent there were ftlled w1th seetng the stghts and enjoytng the many recreattons avatlable. Wh1le v1s1tmg Mount Vernon we caught s1ghtofK1ngBaudou1n of Belglum who was stght see1ng there at the same mme. Men and more men were the mterest of all the gtrls who vtstted Annapolls untll they caught stght of Tl-ll: man Pat Boone. Baccalaureate and Commencement brought our school days toa close wtth a ftnahty that overwhelmed US T116 honor SPG6Ches g1V6Il by Jtm Stewart Saundra Neal and Bonme Cole bore out the meanmg of our class motto 'Courage IS better than fear Falth IS truer than doubt.
